Lions Math & Science Responds to COVID-19

The Students of Lions Academy are our first priority! Their safety and well being is at the top of our list. We are working hard as a school to meet state mandates, as well as mandates imposed by our health officials and the CDC.

Keep Informed

Greetings Parents,
We hope this letter finds you and your family in the best of health in light of the current health crisis that surrounds us today. Lions Academy has some exciting NEWS! We are happy to announce that we plan to reopen Lions Academy once the IL State Governor JB Pritzker releases the “Stay at home order”. As far as we know the mandate will be lifted on April 7, 2020. Which means our first day of class could potentially be April 8, 2020!
The Students of Lions Academy are our first priority! Their safety and well being is at the top of our list. We are working hard as a school to meet state mandates, as well as mandates imposed by our health officials and the CDC. We will take the necessary measures to clean and sanitize our entire school, making our environment as safe and sanitary as possible. Since Lions Academy is a small private institution, we are easily able to design a plan that works within the IL state guidelines for group gatherings. You can expect the following from Lions Academy:

• All of our classes will be broken down to no more than 10 students per class
• We will be actively monitoring bathroom breaks and lunches to ensure that ALL students are practicing appropriate hand-washing and sanitizing
• We will practice our current food service policy, which is the use of hairnets and gloves while serving our students breakfast lunch and snack
• We will practice and enforce ALL school safety rules and regulations

As it is, the numbers and cases of COVID-19 are ever changing, and we must be prepared to adjust if needed. We are asking everyone to keep a flexible mind frame as we move forward in the coming weeks. Additionally, in order to plan appropriately as it relates to being adequately staffed, we need to take count of which parents are still actively working, which parents are not, and which parents are uncertain if you will return to the workforce. This is critical information that we must consider as it is our plan to re-open in the near future.

Please be advised that if you are a parent that is receiving DHS assistance there will be extreme delays with the disbursement of funds. That in mind it is extremely important to consider that fact before having your child return to school. It is our goal to help our families as much as we can, however we are asking for your honest consideration in return. Which means if you are working, we would require a letter from your employer to be on file in our school records. This will ensure that all the financial obligations are able to be met.

Therefore, Mrs. Jarrett will be available to accept payments for past due balances. Should you require assistance please feel free to contact Mrs. Jarrett via e-mail or mobile phone.
The Staff and Administrative Board of Lions Math and Science Christian Academy urges all families to practice all of the suggested policies on staying healthy and safe, in turn creating a safer environment for our children and our community. As an Academy with Christian values with employ you to pray without ceasing, keeping our school, teachers, students, staff and families up before our Lord God.

We can get through this together!
